Port Facility
One of the unique features of the industrial park is it has its own port facility that caters to the shipping needs of its locators and other commercial shippers within the vicinity. BUIP owns beach-front properties with a total sea frontage of 457 meters and has a foreshore lease area of over 12.8 hectares. With a draft at berth of 14 meters, the port can receive panamax vessels. The port is an open multi-purpose concrete pier deck supported by steel pipes with pi-type rubber fenders and other accessories. It was designed by Kawasaki Steel Corporation of Japan.
The port is International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code compliant.
Today, the port regularly receives shipments of steel coils, salt, soda ash and molasses. Its throughput volume is expected to grow very soon as locators begin to construct and operate their facilities.
At present, BUIP is host to the following companies: Bacnotan Steel Industries, Inc., Steel Corporation of the Philippines, JY International Marketing Inc., Jandrick Arvin Realty and Development Corporation, Taurus Arrastre and Stevedoring Services, Century Chemical Corporation, Rezcoat Inc., Asian Chemical Corporation and Petroterminals Philippines Corporation.
Better control, faster document processing, competitive rates, minimal loss/pilferage, truck ban free area, faster turn-around and efficient port operations are just some of the benefits buyers are bound to enjoy in choosing BUIP. For locators, it is like having your own port at your own backyard, without the huge investment.
